Endurance is SHC's first advanced fixed wing aircraft project. Our goal is to design and fly a solar powered fixed wing UAV. We are leveraging the superior drag properties of the Prandtl-D geometry presented by NASA to accomplish the goal of extended flight. The final product will be used as a vehicle for a remote sensing payload that would benefit from the advantages it presents in comparison to other remote sensing platforms (e.g. weather balloon, satellite, chartered flight, etc.). If you have a payload idea or want to be involved in the project, please contact us. We are actively looking for members at any experience level. Key fields involved in this project include the following: aerodynamics; electrical distribution; guidance, navigation, and control; structural analysis; and computational modelling and simulation.
