LEMONS is SHC's first advanced fixed wing aircraft project. Our goal is to design and fly a high altitude flying wing into a jet stream to perform dynamic soaring. Dynamic soaring is a tactic initially discovered in bird behavior which employs using changing wind shears to maintain more kinetic energy than is lost due to drag, essentially offering theoretically continuous flight. Prandtl wings are a semi-recent flying wing design that combats adverse yaw by producing induced thrust at the wingtips instead of induced drag.
