There are many ways to get involved with the Space Hardware Club, from joining our projects to attending our events.
Participation in SHC is up to each student. We are open to all students at UAH, no matter age or background. Members get the oportunity to spend several hours per week in our labs developing competitive engineering and science payloads.
The Space Hardware Club has never held membership fees. We are blessed to have a lab provided by UAH in addition to generous sponsors who cover almost all expenses of our projects including related travel costs for members. Our funding is often tied to grants and corporate donations that aim to fuel a new generation of engineers. We work hard to keep individual costs to a minimum to maximize growth opportunity. We so grateful to our sponsors for providing us the opportunities we have.
The club requires every member to be in good academic standing. We have voted to require a 3.0 GPA at UAH or 2.5 and uphill GPA. If you do not meet these requirements, you are not permitted to travel or participate actively and in accordance with the procedures outlined in our constitutuion, you may be removed from the club. Ultimately a 2.5 GPA is required to be an active member.
The general club meeting is once a month on a Thursday at 8pm typically in the Charger Union Theater. Meetings for projects are decided by teams of said projects and should be posted in SHC Calendar. The main lab for Space Hardware is Optics Lab 307. Most formal activities start at 8pm. To know for sure when a meeting is check our calendar for specifics. Our rooms are on the facilities map.
If you are a new UAH student, please check us out on chargerconnect and see our beginning-of-year tabling events to learn how to get involved! You can also find us at a club general meeting as published on the UAH RSO calendar. When you join the club as a member, you are placed on our official club email list. This updates you on important club events and activities!
Are you a professional interested in connecting with us? Please contact our current president or email our executive board (see our leadership page for contact info).
